EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE
Just like humans, horses can suffer with sore tight muscles that can cause pain and discomfort, restricting their movement, abilityand preventing them from performing well.
I provide a hand-on only Equine Sports Massage Therapy releasing tensions and stresspoints created by training and competitions.
Examples of changes that can happen:
- Shorter stride than before
- Not flexing to one side or the other
- Horse feels like it rides in two halfs
- Initial gallop work promising but not repeated
- Refusing to jump - too painful for horse to land
All these changes and many more can happen over time and horses learn to compensate untill they are no longer able to. Returning full muscle function can get your horse back on track and performing well
There are many benefits to equine massage including:
- Regaining full range of movement
- Back problems: Relaxes sore/tight muscles
- Improves behavioural problems
- Reduces risk of injury - tendon problems start in the shoulders
- Builds up muscle tone in rehabilitation
- Aids recovery after racing/competition

I work in the Leinster area, travelling around to the different yards. The cost of a Sports Massage is €55, this can take one to one and half hours depending on the horse. The number of horses can be negotiated reasonably.
